Emotional Detachment

I want to talk about an article that I have read about the emotional detachment. For your information, the emotional detachment is having two different meanings. The first meaning refers to an inability to connect with others on an emotional level. It is often described as "emotional numbing" or dissociation. It often arises from psychological trauma and is a component in many anxiety and stress disorders. The person, while physically present, moves elsewhere in the mind, making them sometimes be seen as preoccupied or distracted. In other cases, the person may seem fully present but operate merely intellectually when emotional connection would be appropriate. This may present an extreme difficulty in giving or receiving empathy. Emotional detachment is also a type of mental assertiveness that allows people to maintain their boundaries and psychic integrity when faced with the emotional demands of another person or group of persons. It is a positive and deliberate mental attitude which avoids engaging the emotions of others. It is often applied to relatives and associates of people who are in some way emotionally overly demanding. This detachment does not mean avoiding the feeling of empathy; it is actually more of an awareness of empathetic feelings that allows the person space needed to rationally choose whether or not to be overwhelmed or manipulated by such feelings.

The World's Going to End

I've read another article on how the world's going to end..it was predicted to happen on 21/12/2012..there are some interesting facts that lead to this prediction.
firstly,Mayans have did this prediction.Maya people were masters of mathematics and calendars and they were keeping track of time using three separate calendars. For predictions about the beginning and end of the “world” they used “Long Count” calender. And on December 21st 2012, the Long Count will be at the point zero which Maya predicts as the end of time and beginning of the new world. The Mayas were very accurate in their predictions and they predicted invasions on their soil and the World Wars.
secondly,solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.
and finally,Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang..

I would like to share with you a national geographic video clip and an article that I had watched and read recently. Both of the video clip and the article are regarding Dubai. As we know, Dubai had been successfully create a man-made palm-shaped island and is now building the world tallest tower. Besides that, Dubai is going to create a world! A man-made world! What a great idea to boost the luxurious based tourism of Dubai?

The idea of creating the World is came from the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Dubai links 300 islands nearby her coast and creates a world map that visible from space. For your information, Dubai is built on its profit of the oil reserve. However, the oil is estimated to be run dry by the year of 2016. Thus, Dubai must change from an emirate reliance on oil to a land filled by tourists. I really enjoyed watching the video clip as I am so impressed with the ruler of Dubai who managed to transform Dubai into a well-known country and a top tourist destination in a decade. Moreover, he has such an impressive visionary, which enables Dubai to survive without her oil reserve. Everyone in the world is waiting for Dubai to come out with the next miracle. Would Malaysia be able to construct this kind of mega structure? In my opinion, Malaysia still has a long way to go to succeed in tourism unless she fully utilize the resources and show the world the extraordinary of hers.

.::LOVE::.

Love is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection and attachment. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure to intense interpersonal attraction. The word love is both a verb and a noun. Love is not a single feeling but an emotion built from two or more feelings. Anything vital to us creates more than one feeling, and we also have feelings about our feelings (and thoughts about our feelings). This diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.
As an abstract concept, love usually refers to a deep, ineffable feeling of tenderly caring for another person. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the nonsexual emotional closeness of familial and platonic love to the profound oneness or devotion of religious love. Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.

The Power Of A Smile

So many people underestimate the power and importance of a smile, that simple little facial expression characterized by an upward curving of the corners of the mouth.

A smile has many meanings: pleasure, friendliness, welcome, amusement, and many more; and it is part of a universal body language that doesn’t need any extra interpretation.

Plus a smile, with all its simplcity and beauty, can be a very important factor in many aspects of our lives:

- You fall in love with a new country you visit because its people greet you with a welcoming smile everywhere you go; other countries you just don’t like even though they might have more history, nature, entertainment and whatnot because their people don’t seem so friendly or accepting.

- You feel like buying from a certain store when the vendor welcomes you in with a smile, sometimes even if you wouldn’t intially have bought anything; and in other stores, even though they have exactly what you need or better, you decide to walk away because the vendor doesn’t look welcoming at all.

- You want to give a waiter a good tip when he serves you with a smile, even if the food turns out not that good; on the other hand, sometimes you’ll have some of the best food ever, but you won’t feel like giving the waiter a tip, even if you do, because he was grumpy.

More and more examples from our everyday life show how much a simple smile can change everything.

Forever engraved in my mind will be the smiling faces of the people of Thailand, the friendly pizza delivery boy, the welcoming supermarket vendor, the nice cashier at the bank, …etc.

It is these smiles that keep me wanting to go back, and that keep us all wanting to go back; looking at it from another view, if we break it down using business sense, a smile is one of the most effective means to generate sales and develop customer loyalty.

On top of all that, a smile is a very simple and easy thing to do, so it amazes why no one bothers to do it, it not only makes the person in front of you better, but it also makes you feel better as well, and I’m not making this up, it has been psychologically proven.

Personally, I’d like to see more smiling faces in this world; in the airports when I enter a new country, in companies, government agencies, restaurants, hotels, banks, everywhere; and I think it is up to governments to campaign about this, and even make it obligatory in certain important places like airports, hospitals, hotels…etc.

Let’s all simply smile :)

.::STRESS::.

I have finished read an article about stress. I know everyone will be in stress with a lot of work to do this week especially assessment,project and assignment.we also need to struggle for test and quiz.Contrary to what many people think, there is good or positive stress known as 'eustress' and bad or negative stress known as 'distress'.According to Dr Mogan, stress is difficult to define as it is subjective.For me,the reason for this is that there is no definition of stress that everyone agrees on, what is stressful for one person may be pleasurable or have little effect on others.i think people have to find the right amount of stress that permits them to live a productive and happy life.from stress,we can learn how to utilize and transform stress so that it will make our be more productive.this article also recommends the 10 simple steps to overcome stress and they are to relax, take deep breath, take it easy, perform religious obligations, speak with somebody, go for massage therapy, rest and listen to music, go for recreational activities, exercise and think positive.so,i hope who have a stress can take this as a way to handle it.
